Life can be unpredictable, and when regular care plans fall through, it’s stressful for the whole family. Backup care is often a scramble, but Wellthy’s Backup Care is here to help. Wellthy makes it easy to find care when there are disruptions to your family’s coverage. You can rely on their experts to handle the search for backup care options and use our tool to create a backup plan when you need it.

To help support these stressful situations, the Company subsidizes the cost of backup care for children, adult loved ones, and pets, up to certain amounts, depending on the provider you choose. You can either arrange to have Wellthy pay the provider directly (if care is requested at least 24 hours in advance) or you can pay the provider and file a claim for reimbursement:

  • If you use Wellthy network providers, you will pay a $15 copay and the Company will subsidize up to $175 per day. You’re responsible for any amount above $190 (your $15 copay + $175 reimbursement). Wellthy will help you source care from within the network.
  • If you use providers from your personal network, such as friends or neighbors, you will pay a $30 copay and the Company will subsidize up to $125 per day. You’re responsible for any amount above $155 (your $30 copay + $125 reimbursement). Family members are not eligible backup care providers.
  • If you need to secure backup care for your pet, contact Wellthy to be receive a code for a Company subsidy up to $150 per day for Pet Care through Rover. You will pay a $15 copay for this service and will be responsible for any amount above $165 (your $15 copay + $150 reimbursement).

Note: You may be able to leverage a summer camp (or other camp) as backup care for children.

The Company will subsidize up to 10 days of backup care per year, for up to three days in a row.

Note: Backup Care with Wellthy will require you to pay the cost of care and submit a claim for reimbursement. This process is different than it has been in the past when the Company provided backup care through Care.com. Please take that into account as you use Wellthy.

Wellthy’s care experts can help ease the burden of the administrative and logistical tasks that come with taking a leave. They’ll help you:

  • Understand your leave options including how your claim impacts other programs (such as Social Security Disability), and the process
  • Apply for a leave including state-specific leaves
  • Identify financial assistance resources to help bridge any income gap
  • Gather your medical records and get a second opinion when needed
  • Prepare for rehabilitation
  • Care for yourself, including emotional support

  • Hired April 1 – June 30: 8 hours when hired; 8 more hours on July 1
  • Hired July 1 – Sept. 30: 8 hours when hired
  • Hired Oct. 1 or after: No flexible holiday time

Any unused flexible holidays will be forfeited at the end of each calendar year.

Co-ops, temporary part-time, and seasonal employees are not eligible for any holidays.

*If you transfer to a different legal entity or work location, you will be subject to the scheduled holidays at that site. The holiday entitlement is based on a 40-hour work week. The amount of total holidays and flexible holiday hours may vary for employees who work less than 40 hours per week. Union employees should refer to their collective bargaining agreement.

**The United States Country Council reviews the holiday calendar each year and the mix of fixed and flexible holidays may change. Please note: Depending on your location and shift, you may be granted a holiday on the actual holiday instead of the observed day. Most sites are closed on Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

All full-time employees are provided a bank of 64 hours for the purpose of absences due to illness, doctor’s appointments, or caring for a child or immediate family member.

Note:

  • If you exhaust the hours in your sick time off bank or CA Paid Sick Leave bank, you may substitute vacation or flexible holiday time, with your manager’s approval.
  • Exempt employees must charge time from this bank in increments of one day.

  • Sick time is prorated for part-time and new employees.
  • Any unused sick time hours will be forfeited at the end of each calendar year.

You accrue vacation on the 1st and 15th of every month, and you must be employed on the date the accrual is posted. You accrue at the higher rate on the next applicable semi-monthly accrual date after your anniversary. Upon termination, any pay for vacation time taken before it is accrued will be deducted from your final paycheck, except where legally prohibited.

As part of your Basic Life insurance coverage, Sun Life Financial provides the following through ComPsych:

  • Claimant Support Services, offering up to five no-cost phone counseling sessions to help you or a family member deal with a covered person’s death or disability.
